Magic Mushrooms

Have you always wanted to go mushrooming but have never gone and are afraid of picking poisonous ones? So what's the problem? We at Ursus Adventures will help you. Take part in a guided mushroom picking experience with an expert mycologist while exploring the forests of Val di Sole in Trentino in summer.

The day begins with a warm welcome from the expert mycologist, who will guide you through the secrets of the mushroom world. Put on suitable clothing for the weather conditions and hiking boots, and you are ready to immerse yourself in the guided adventure.

The expert will begin with a brief introduction to mycology, explaining the ecological importance of mushrooms and the various species found in the area. If necessary, he will provide you with collecting baskets, knives and all the necessary information for safe and responsible collecting.

As you venture into the dense and rich needle-leaved forests, the expert mycologist will share his vast knowledge, pointing out the different species of mushrooms you will encounter along the way. He will teach you how to recognise them based on characteristics such as cap shape, colour, stem and other distinguishing features such as taste (yes, some can even be tasted raw in small portions).

During the excursion you will have the opportunity to ask questions and deepen your understanding of mycology. The expert will share interesting anecdotes, stories about the local tradition of mushroom picking and culinary tips on how to prepare them in a delicious way.

During the day, you will collect a variety of mushrooms, always under the careful guidance of the expert who will check the edibility of each specimen. Collecting will not only be an educational activity but also an experience of sharing and socialising with other participants.

The expert mycologist will assist you in cleaning and organising the collection, offering advice on how to store mushrooms optimally.

This guided experience will not only enrich your knowledge of mycology, but also allow you to connect with nature in a unique way. You will learn to respect your surroundings and gain a new perspective on the beauty and importance of mushrooms in mountain life.

Participants must obtain a mushroom picking permit from the tourist offices, which is not included in the price. Alternatively, they can only go on an educational outing without the possibility of taking the mushrooms home.
